Halloween is only a few days away and for most of us, that means figuring out what to dress up as, where to go and what to do. Long forgotten are the days of going door-to-door, hunting for as much candy to fill our pillow-cases or our plastic jack-o-lanterns as possible. Most of us have traded that in for something different, whether it’s doling out the candy or heading off to a costume party all our own, we still deserve our own treats this time of year. Trade in your childhood candy for a grown-up treat. The Blood + Sand + Smoke cocktail is a perfect way to celebrate Halloween. And hey, if Halloween isn’t your thing, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy this cocktail. It’s the perfect accompaniment for whatever your Halloween plan. The bold taste of the Colkegan Whiskey paired with sweet vermouth is livened up with the blood orange and perfect to cut-away the sting of oncoming cold weather.

Blood + Sand + Smoke

  • 2 ounces Colkegan Whiskey
  • 1 ounce Sweet Vermouth (Dolin preferred)
  • .75 ounce blood orange puree (available from online retailers)
  • Orange peel

In mixing glass without ice, add whiskey, sweet vermouth and blood orange puree. Stir 8 – 10 seconds and strain into rocks glass over ice. Garnish with orange peel.
