The Pleasure Pilots is popular dance band specializing in rocking vintage rhythm and blues, swing and jump music. Co-leader Fred Spencer (music director, guitar, vocals) has appeared in New Mexico with Front Porch Swing, the Range Busters, Big Step, and the Soul Deacons. Co-leader David Phillips (keyboards, vocals) has played locally with the Bumpers, the Arroyo Kings, the Soul Deacons, and Freddy Fender. Terry Bluhm (upright bass, vocals) has been a player in the Albuquerque scene with Thunderama, Jasper, Bayou Seco and Felix y Los Gatos. Graham Binette (drums, vocals) has appeared with many bands in the Santa Fe rea, including Ravin, the Arroyo Kings, the Soul Deacons, and Sister Mary and the Bad Habits. Glenn Kostur (tenor and baritone saxophones) is the Director of Jazz Studies at UNM. Professor Kostur has appeared with the Woody Herman Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Eckstine, Tony Bennett and Joe Williams. Trey Keepin (tenor sax) has appeared on stage with Chubby Checker, Asleep at the Wheel, and Betty Carter. Locally, Trey has appeared with the Soul Deacons, the Santa Fe Chiles, and the Soul Man Sam Band. Tom Rheam (trumpet) was ‘lead trumpet’ in the Ray Charles Band. Tom has performed with the Four Seasons, The Four Tops, The Temptations and for Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra and Aretha Franklin.
